No 73 High Street, Ware
Our little shop has been many things over the last 200 years, but we don’t know all of them yet. It’s almost certainly been a pub and probably a small brewery. It’s been lots of different types of shop, and it was a part of the giant Harradence’s department store. It’s been home to many families and probably just as many horses. It’s probably housed the great bed of Ware, it’s been a gunsmith’s, stables and part of a mews and we have some great artefacts around the building that give a bit of an insight into its past.
On the ground floor is our shop and brewbar where anyone can enjoy a coffee and something to eat, takeaway, or to buy beans, ground coffee and brew tools for use at home. In the old stables we have our kitchens and bakery and until recently the old gunsmith’s workshop housed our roastery.
Wherever possible, we’ve tried to be sympathetic and restore or improve the building’s original features. We have recycled and reused, we’ve worked with the local wood recycling project to save things from landfill and we’ve worked with local tradesmen and adopted traditional methods wherever possible.
We’re really proud of no73, and believe it adds something special and unique to our high street. We hope you do too.
